Standing atop the roof of the orphanage in Bercy, I get a 360-degree view of this growing community. My assignment for this morning is to patch holes in the metal roof of the building. It is a beautiful island day. The sun is warm but a gentle tropical breeze keeps me refreshed as I put generous portions of tar on the nails that are the source of the leaks.
Stopping for a break, I can’t help...

Today was one of those “hurry up and wait” days. We were delayed in getting our supplies for our projects, so some would have considered today a wasted day. But as we shared at the end of the day, we realized that the circumstances of the day allowed us to do the most important thing we do in Haiti–love on the kids. We all had special moments today where we exchanged love and smiles...

November team being transported out to our site.
The November team arrived today. Most were veteran Haiti mission trippers, so we were all anxious to get to the orphange to see the children. They were so precious as they came to greet us.
November team meets togther once they arrive.
We did some planning, unpacked, played with the children, and shared with each other how God had already given us some...

Our Current Playground
…what if there were a better playground at the children’s home ?
…What if it was full of swings and climbing on things?
Help give the children a place to dream of being a king, or a pirate, or a princess.
A commercial
grade system could be purchased and shipped for $7,500.
A playground at the school would benefit even more children… but a concrete wall would...

Mirloudes and Nadege joined Mrs Bonnie in cooking dinner for the October Team. They worked together to mix, stir, and cook the meal. They also got to join the team as we enjoyed the meal together.

Today, while Team Leader David was sitting around doing nothing at Food For The Poor, Mr Mike and Mrs Bonnie weighed and measured all the orphanage kids. They also handled all the emergencies, including one case of Pink Eye.

The October Team arrived yesterday (Saturday, Oct 10th) and got settled in very quickly. Today was busy with
church – a wonderful sermon by Pastor Nathan on Psalm 91 – and a trip to the beach with the “middle ones”
(5-12 year olds). Here are a few of the captured moments.

Wanna covered in sand
Ronal contemplating the sea
Dada contemplating me

After four years of leading our ministry in Haiti, Rusty and Cheryl Merritt are stepping down. Their leadership and dedication will be sorely missed. We truly appreciate everything Rusty and Cheryl have done for this ministry. Along with their daughter Sarah, they worked tirelessly speaking to churches and groups, preparing mission teams, traveling to Haiti monthly, hosting groups from around the country...

In July, Jerry Johmas, one of the boys in our orphanage broke his arm in a bike accident. Several people have asked how Jerry is doing, so I thought I’d post a picture of him without his cast. He has a little trouble straightening out his arm, so the doctors have prescribed exercises for him. Please keep him in your prayers as he continues to heal.

We arrived in Port-au-Prince, the beginning of our journey.
Here we are waiting to go through immigration.
We arrived at the orphanage and began unpacking the 32 duffel bags we brought full of supplies. Lots of organizing to do!
Tomorrow we will begin our work and get to visit with our precious children. There’s VBS, clothesline to construct, washers to buy, and English classes to...
