Valley View, Day 6

As I look around, everyone looks so nice with their new hairdos.  Nadege stood for hours tediously braiding hair into neat corn rolls.   I should have been first in line, afterall, I could have benefited the most from the instant face lift effect.  Projects planned had to be postponed, since materials were unavailable, so most of the day was spent playing with children and rescuing the puppies from the children who wanted to toss them around.

Kim and Chassidy were up bright and early, and spent the day at the cholera clinic.  Kim got to be in the admissions tent where she started IVs, and administered the initial bolus.  There were seven new patients today.  Chassidy was in the women’s tent where she gave fluids, encouraged them to drink, helped them cleanup after themselves, and provided comfort.

Since Kim and Chassidy, our nurses, were at the cholera clinic, when the girl with the severe burn (from hot oil) came in, Tiffany and I had been instructed on how to clean and redress the hand so were prepared.  Today, was the first time I had seen her wince with pain, but that is a good thing, meaning she is healing, though it tugs at your heart to think you are the one causing her pain.  Just as a treat, I painted her fingernails and she seemed so happy about it.  She told us she didn’t think she would be back today, and wasn’t sure about tomorrow, since her family would be at church.  Since we weren’t instructed what pain and antibiotics to send with her, we didn’t send any.  Please pray she not be in pain and that no infection sets in, and continue to pray for complete healing.

 The biggest project, in Donnie’s mind anyway, was completed today.  That was getting all the school children’s records updated.  It has been through the efforts of most of the team during the week, at one time or another, but Angela and Eileen spent a lot of time getting the data into a usable spreadsheet format.  It’s great to see how God puts a team together with the skills for getting done what needs done, whether computer skills, or nursing skills, or mechanical, or appliance repairs (thanks Phil, we really appreciate having the ice maker fixed).

Tomorrow we will worship in the church service with members of the church and orphanage.  More talent from our team, Chassidy, Corey, and Tiffany have been working with the kids to provide music during the service. We are looking forward to not only worshiping with the Cabaret Church but seeing how God will work tomorrow through our team.

Psalm 100
A psalm. For giving grateful praise. 1 Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.
 2 Worship the LORD with gladness;
   come before him with joyful songs.
3 Know that the LORD is God.
   It is he who made us, and we are his[a]
   we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

 4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving
   and his courts with praise;
   give thanks to him and praise his name.
5 For the LORD is good and his love endures forever;
   his faithfulness continues through all generations.
