Orphans Helping Orphans
I received this message Monday from Arlene Skinner, JBA’s Financial Secretary and Multihousing Director:
“My nephew phoned me this morning from his orphanage in Mendoza, Argentina.
His orphanage (that needs funds as much as any) wants to send a donation to our
orphanage for Haiti disaster relief. The children at Quinta Betel want to color pictures of
encouragement to send to our children so they’ll know they are thinking of and praying for them.
Orphans reaching out to orphans…from Argentina to Haiti. He asked me when you
were going to Haiti again and if you could take the pictures. I told him you would be
going as soon as possible and yes, you could squeeze a few extra papers into your suitcase.
They currently have 23 children in their home. You can see them by going to www.quintabetel.com.
My nephew, Everett Conaway, said he was going to add a link to the JBA Haiti website.”

Thank you so much for this post! It really captures the hearts of orphans for each other. They look out for one another becase they understand each other better than anyone else. I wish we all remembered as Christians that we were Orphaned before Christ in darkness, and remembered to treat one another this way always!
Our family of 15 is in prayer for all of you doing your work and calling from the Lord Jesus Christ. However we can help, please let us know. We can’t seem to find any where to ship supplies and our local churches are willing to help. Please respond asap. Thanks so much.

Beverly: Things have been pretty hectic. I have received hundreds of messages just like yours. Words of encouragement, prayer, and offering to help in any way. I posted the blog “Don’t Just Do Something . . .” to answer all those questions. It will explain why we are not gathering donated items at this time. We are only accepting monetary donations and the usual iteams that we always collect – see the “Project needs” tab. Again thank you for your prayers, as we face tremendous destruction and overwhelming ministry opportunities.
