Today began with early morning routines around the compound. There was the loud crowing of the rooster, the baying of the donkey, the crying of the children, and the laughter of the men in the kitchen. Daylight begins shortly after 5 am each morning so there are long days that have an early start. The men have been given breakfast duty, and they are doing a great job of preparing a delicious breakfast.
Our devotion this morning reflected on Lev. 23. In that chapter the Israelites were taught how to leave grain in the edge of the field for the poor. Understanding the emphasis upon the grace of God in their lives, we were reminded of that same grace. So for today, we sought to see those moments where God was using us as a conduit of His grace.
Projects for today included, construction on two homes that were damaged in the quake, sorting of clothes for kids, updating children’s information at the orphanage, and fitting the children with “new” clothes and shoes.
The team worked side-by-side with the Haitian today on the work sites. The Haitians worked extremely hard and to the fullest alongside our team. It was nice to see the teamwork.
While at one of the construction sites, Kristen and Cristina were able to tag-team a duo of men and share the gospel with them. While they refused His grace, they listened closely and acknowledged what was being said.
Looking forward to a great day tomorrow.
