Last Friday we had a medical team run a clinic in a massive tent city named Obama Village. They served over 200 people per day for two days, and one of the patients they had was 9 months pregnant and her water broke while she was standing in line. Our doctors checked her out and said she wasn’t in labor and needed to go to the hospital to deliver the baby. They came back the next day and she was still there and still had water running down her ankles, they gave her some money for a taxi and said you should go the hospital because if you don’t deliver the baby in the first 72 hours, the baby almost definitely won’t make it and your life is in great danger as well. She went and the doctors told her there was nothing they could do for her if she wouldn’t go into labor. We went back on Tuesday and she still hadn’t given birth and still had water running down her legs, we gave her our phone number and told her to borrow a phone to call if she got worse. The next day we decided to stop by to see how she was doing, and she was in much more pain and couldn’t stand up. We spoke with a doctor that lives close by and he said sent her over as soon as you can, so we gave her some money for a ride and met her at the hospital. Within minutes she was in labor and the doctor told us he would let us know after he had delivered the baby. No more than three hours later we got the phone call, “ITS A HEALTHY YOUNG BOY!!!” We picked her up with her new son and brought her home, gave her a couple weeks supply of food and all the stuff every new baby needs.
In conclusion, God’s leading, our willingness to be available, and $120 dollars later I think we will have a story never to be forgotten. Thank you so much for your prayers, and hopefully this story will remind you of the power of God when hearts are sensitive to His leading.
