Austin Betz was here for a month by himself. Then Mike Snider came and stayed a month by himself. Now I guess it’s time for the boss man to try it.
Hey, it’s David Garrett and I’m flying solo for the next few weeks. It really won’t be that long because two mission teams will be coming in while I’m here. As a matter of fact, I had a group show up unannounced last night – not to spend the night, just to visit with the kids for a while. Members of this team were here last month and came back down to work and just had to stop by and say hi. That seems to be the effect these kids have on people. They just have to come back and see them. I am biased I guess, but I really do think our kids are the greatest in all of Haiti. Groups like Lifeline, People for Haiti, Embrace Point, and even Emory from Much Ministries who stages teams here as they come and go from Gonaive, all have special relationships with Cabaret Baptist Children’s Home and these kids. It hit me last last night after the team left. I was in bed trying to pray for all 45 children by name as I drifted off to sleep. I guess I’m not really flying solo after all. God has surrounded me with supportive teams, 45 beautiful children, plenty of faithful workers, and the promise of his presence. How great is that?

Almost every one of the almost 50 people I’ve taken down in the last 2 months wants to go back and see the kids again. They do have a way of grabbing the heartstrings and not letting go. I’m glad our teams have been able to build relationships with the kids and we will continue to with each team we take.
