Earthquake Hits Haiti

A 7.0 magnitude earthquake occured southwest of Port-au-Prince. Our Orphanage is located northwest of Port-au-Prince, but along the coast, which would be susceptible to tsunamis. The latest word is that this type of earthquake is not conducive to tsunamis. So that is some good news. Also the shaking would cause unreinforced buildings to collapse. Thanks to God and Marcus Greene our buildings are reinforced and very well built.

We still can’t get through via phone. Two of our January team members stayed there in Port-au-Prince. Please pray for them, the missionaries who live there and Haiti in general.

  1. Elzora Brown says:

    Hello David,

I was really concerned when I saw the news coverage of the earthquate in Haiti.
We thank God that our facilities were not damaged. We’ll continue to pray for the citizens of Haiti.
Thank you for the earthquate update, please keep us posted.

  2. Lord, we cry out for your protection and peace upon this place and the people so dear to our hearts. Wrap them with your supernatural protection, that they might feel you close. We pray that they would not fear. We do submit them to you, for we know Your love for them is deep. In our precious Savior’s name…amen.

  3. David Garrett says:

Let me clarify. I have NOT confirmed the condition of our buildings. From the facts I’m hearing, the odds of our buildings surviving are better than others, but I have no factual information concerning the condition of our buildings or the safety of our staff and children. Please pray!

  4. Anna Guy says:

So sorry to hear this news. Will keep Haiti and our work in Bercy in our prayers. Also our friends, Dorothy, Sherrie and Marie and others we know that minister there. Dear Father, please be with Haiti and all our loved ones there.

  5. Paige Palmer Stewart says:

    Hi David,

Thank you for posting the update so quickly. As soon as I just heard the news, I wanted to see if our orphanage and children are okay. They will be in my prayers, and I hope to know something more soon.

  6. Bob Phelps says:

Praise God. Linda just a got a message on facebook that all the Bercy kids are fine, but sleeping outside because of the aftershocks. The news was via an email from Piere Prinvil. Pray for his wife. Last I heard, she was working in Port Au Prince.
Thank you all for your prayers. We were just weeks away from having Jenifer’s adoption completed. Weeks may have turned into months again. But as long as she is safe, we’re feeling blessed.

  7. Please know that you are not alone, we are joining together at the feet of the Almighty rejoicing at the mercy he gives.

  8. I hope Haiti gets all the help the country needs. They really need our support. Lord, we cry for Haiti to be protected.
