Earthquake Disaster Relief Update

As we watch in horror as the relief efforts in Port-au-Prince are fraught with frustration and confusion, I’m pleased to tell of the orderly activities taking place at our ministry site in Cabaret:

  • People from the community are finding shelter inside our compound.
  • We are sharing our food with displaced families that come to us.
  • Our school (which has been closed since Wed) plans to reopen Monday with more children from some of the other collapsed schools in the neighborhood villages like Vigner, Leveque and Cabaret city as well.
  • Cell phones are still not working, but our satellite internet is keeping our workers in touch with us here in Jacksonville.
  • Our staff has helped worried families in the U.S. and around the world to discover the status of their family members in Haiti. They have even sent pictures of the family members and their homes via e-mail.

We are pleased that God is using our efforts to asssist the Haitian people during this tragedy.
