For the first couple of days, it was surreal for me to realize I was back in Haiti. It touched my heart that many of the kids in the orphanage remembered me, especially little 8 year old Islanda, my beautiful girl I bonded with last year! She was attached to me the whole week! :)

I was so blessed to have the oppurtunity to serve our Lord in Haiti. Our Haitian brothers and sisters hold such a strong passion for our Lord and I was honored to spend time with them in worship, serve them in the clinics, and spend time with the children. Today is election day in Haiti. It is a very controversial election of a new Senate. It’s a time of uncertainty and even fear among many.
This is what the presidential election looked like three years ago. There was hope for a better time after many years of unrest, instability and upheaval. That election was also plagued with controversy and corruption.

Got this update from Dorothy on Madeline & Roseline today…
She (Madeline) is eating much better and has starting drinking about 1/2 cup of milk at a time with provit and sugar added. I got my usual blood tests done on her. She’s negative for HIV (as you knew), TB and syphilis. Hemoglobin is 9.46 so I have started her on haemaplex. WBC is 13.4, high but it could still be coming...

Roseline is a sweet little 6 year old that we met and treated during the medical clinic. She has kwashiokor, a severe form of malnutrition resulting from a diet with inadequate protein. She probably has had nothing to eat eat except small quantities of rice in a very long time. Her mom is attentive and loving and is doing the best that she can. Here are some pictures from the medical clinic that was held on Tuesday and Wednesday. Checking patients in, taking vital signs, the activity in the pharmacy. Rashes, wounds, respiratory, malnutrition were all various treatments.
