I awoke the first morning with the word JOY on my mind.
I asked myself, “What is the source of joy for MY life?” Is it my salvation? my family? The fact that I am an American? The different “joys” that I experience daily in my life have many sources.
But today I am in Haiti.I saw a smiling girl at the school and later learned that her mother died last week. She wears...

Well,
It’s Thursday and I ended the blog early in a very apparent act of procrastination and abstract laziness…sorry.
Anywho, Wednesday ended with a Lady’s Bible Study (which I was, of course, forbidden to attend) and then the Wednesday Night Bible Study Service Thing that we had at the church at the compound. It was awesome the Pastor from the other church (Pastor Mark) spoke...

Hello All,
It’s Wednesday and we’ve settled in for a long week of work. Yesterday we had a blast going to Pastor Nathan’s house and praising the Lord. Pastor Nathan is the newest edition of the Haitian church over here at the compound and let me tell you that his passion is contagious and he gives off a completely different feel than the last pastor. We got to sing and Micah gave...

Well,
There aren’t many words that can describe what we’ve experienced so far in Haiti. Our teammate, Steven has put it into a very short, interjectory sentence,
“Wow.”
That’s pretty much all we’ve been able to say. The culture shock is still wearing off, but some of us veterans (with a July 2007 trip under our belts) were a little amused...

Meet Widna Doisir-
Widna is in the 1st grade class at our Mission school here in Bercy.
This huge bag is filled with gifts from the ladies at St. Matthews Baptist Church who sponsor her.
Did you notice that Widna is not wearing her school uniform?
Her mother died last week.
The little black dress she is wearing will be a uniform of sorts for her for the next year. Women and girls in Haiti...

I know Sunday is supposed to be the beginning of a new week, but in many ways today seems like the culmination of of a lot of things.
Worship this morning was incredible!
Ricky gave a wonderful message complete with a powerful demonstration of the suffering Jesus endured on the cross as He paid the price for our salvation. We were blessed by his preaching all week, but even before that as Rusty...

There will be no posting tonight.
Only a quick note to let everyone in Mullins know that their friends and family arrived here safe & sound. We gave them some food, some love & a tour, but now we’re all calling it quits til tomorrow. They had a 1:30 am wake-up call so they just want to see a pillow and the inside of their eyelids. Maybe we’ll have more to report...

Today I woke up with Sarah’s cold. Yuck! I had the slows all day because of it. I spent the early morning talking with Micheline & checking on everything to see what needed attention first. After making lists and getting the marketing and errand running tasks assigned- and dealing with the money matters that go with it- we decided we should first go into Cabaret and check on Adamise. ...

Really, Really Frazzled !!
I had a credit balance on my internet service…so what did the phone company do?? They disconneted it, of course !!
BOO BELLSOUTH !!I was on the phone 4 hours and talked with 15 different people before they were able to get it re-connected.
Only one lady showed concern and a real willingness to help.
