It doesn’t seem possible that it’s already been a year since we had the dedication and inauguration of the new church pavilion, but this month we marked the anniversary of that milestone with a celebration.
There were guests- choirs, ensembles & soloists North from St. Marc and south from Port-au-Prince.
Ladies and groups of ladies in white blouses and hats!
The congregation was...

Yesterday a mama brought a baby girl in. She was asking for help. The baby girl had a rash on her bottom- mama said scabies- and was very uncomfortable. Everyone uses the ground as a toilet-so why should you put a diaper that you have to wash between them and the ground where everyone...

A guy came in with a big old brown thing on his toe!
Jana wasn’t sure what it was.
She said it looked like he had a wasp’s nest on the end of his toe!
She called Mike over to take a look, too.
Turns out it was just a really nasty infected big old hole in his toe!
Jana’s specialty! Yucky infected wounds!
With a lot of Betadine & TLC, she soon had it...

This little girl came in with a really bad burn. Haitians cook their food over little charcoal fires, sometimes right inside their house on the dirt floor or maybe out front under a little overhang. Burns from the charcoal fires are common for the children. It had been there for a while and was really oozy and painful-looking. (See what happens when non-professional people are talking medical jargon-...

So, what does a medical clinic look like- Haitian style?
The work begins in the US, collecting medicine (antibiotics, antifungals, parasite meds, vitamins, creams, etc.) and medical supplies (bandages, sutures, syringes, thermometers, etc.). Once we’ve begged, borrowed & bartered anything “medical” we can get our hands on, the team is packed up (duffle bags & foot lockers)...

Karin White wrote this beautiful piece following her 1st mission trip experience in Haiti. I added some pictures and share it with Karin’s permission.
